Frequently Asked Questions
ECT has a tremendous amount of experience in the industry and we design all our systems to be durable and reliable. Currently we have thousands of 2-FUEL systems operating globally with nothing but raving reviews from our customers.
Is natural gas cheaper than diesel?
Historically natural gas has maintained a price that is approximately 1/3 of diesel fuel. In addition, Natural gas prices are normally more stable than oil prices.
Is natural gas produced domestically?
Yes! The United States produces over 80% of the natural gas it uses. As a matter of fact Natural Gas is abundant on every major continent.
Is the range of the vehicle decreased with the 2-FUEL system?
No. Actually the total range of the vehicle is increased. By adding natural gas to the vehicle the total fuel that the vehicle carries is increased. And with duel fuel, if you can not find an immediate supply of natural gas you can always revert back to running on pure diesel temporally.
Will engine power be reduced from using the 2-FUEL system?
No! ECT develops the system to match the power curve of the OEM engine. The 2-FUEL system is different from other natural gas systems in that by using a small amount of diesel fuel the engine power is maintained.
Is natural gas safe on a vehicle?
Yes! Numerous crash tests have been conducted globally. In addition ECT has incorporated many safety features in the system. If there is a problem with the natural gas side of the system, the ECU will revert back to OEM diesel operation.
How is the system installed on the vehicle?
2-FUEL is a retro fit system that is installed on existing diesel engines. With our system, an expensive engine rebuild is not necessary. Most of the components of the system bolt onto the vehicle without any modification. Installation is to be done by a verified trained ECT dealer.
What is the matenanace on the system?
The 2-FUEL system has been designed to operate with little matenanace. A routine matenanace schedule is distributed with each product and should be followed for warranty reasons. The main form of matenanace is filter replacement.
Are there any tax credits for natural gas powered vehicles?
